AGM – Thursday 18th February
We are happy & grateful to celebrate our 4th year in business so we host our AGM event @ Moss Side Powerhouse, 140 Raby Street, Thurs 18th Feb, 6pm to 7pm. Sharing what we’ve done in 2015 and what we plan to in 2016. All welcome.
Reclaim the Night will take place on Thursday 25th February
Take part in our Youth Outreach Programme taking place in Manchester in January and February 2016.
My name is Jess Lishak and I’m the Women’s Officer at the University of Manchester Students’Union. I am the organiser of Manchester’s Reclaim the Night; an annual march taking place every February to protest against street harassment, violence against women and victim blaming.
Last year’s campaign was a huge success, receiving local and national news coverage as 2000 members of the public proudly marched with us and voiced their concerns on the pressing issue of gender inequality.
Reclaim the Night will take place on Thursday 25th February, meeting at Owen’s Park in Fallowfield at 7pm. The council and police will shut down the road for us to walk up Oxford Road and finish with a rally round the back of the University of Manchester Students’ Union.
There will be stewards and security there to help out and ensure the safety of participants. The march is fully inclusive and accessible (please contact me with any specific access needs requirements) and will be lead by a self identifying women-only block, followed by a youth and families block, an LGBTQ block and then a mixed block. There is also a free after party at the Students’ Union with women speakers, performers and DJs until late alongside a sober and ‘chill out space’.
Here’s a short video of last year’s event- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sTntvIDYpi0
